​Connecting industry professionals and local filmmakers at our festival, networking events and screenings
On Saturday July 12 with our Industry Panel, uniting some of the most exciting voices shaping Western Sydney’s film scene. Esky Eskander brings hip hop storytelling and youth empowerment from Street University, while Brendan Byrne returns to share his gritty, character-driven work with Shadow Wolves Productions. Filmmaker Peter Maple dives into his creative journey behind Dead Sunrise and Streets of Colour, and Kirstie Boerst from Waterloo Studios discusses bridging education and industry to uplift emerging talent. Mason Grady, a rising Penrith cinematographer and VFX artist, rounds out the panel with a fresh lens on local stories. Join the conversation on creativity, community, and change—alongside in-competition screenings throughout the day.

RED CARPET OPENING NIGHT - CHRISTMESS IN JULY @ THE JOAN
The S-Burst Film Festival kicks off in style with our Red Carpet Opening Night July 10 2025, proudly sponsored by Screen NSW. The evening features I'm Here Too, a powerful short film by Brendan Byrne, followed by Christmess—a darkly funny, heartfelt holiday feature written and directed by Penrith’s own Heath Davis and produced by Daniel Fenech. Mingle with creatives, walk the red carpet, and stay for an exclusive Q&A session with Heath and Daniel, live and in person.
